About Dr Kavita
Dr Kavita Maravar is a highly respected Obstetrician and Gynaecologist available for consultation at Norwest Private Hospital, Westmead Private Hospital and Westmead Public Hospital (Women’s & Newborn Health). She is currently a Staff Specialist at Westmead Hospital, where she runs a busy antenatal clinic.
She completed her Bachelors in Medicine (MBBS) degree from the University of Mumbai, India and followed this by undertaking a Master’s Degree in Medicine & Human Reproduction from the University of Sydney. Dr Kavita underwent specialist training at the Western Sydney Local Health district to obtain the prestigious Fellowship in Royal Australia & NZ College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).
Dr Kavita experiences so much joy when delivering babies and has a keen interest in the physiological mechanism from conception to birth. This joy and curiosity has fuelled her ongoing research and speaking engagements in obstetrics. She has a special interest in treating women with gestational diabetes and thyroid issues during pregnancy. In the last 3 years, she has undertaken intense training in gynaecology surgery including laparoscopic surgery.
Dr Kavita would like to impart evidence-based knowledge to women through compassionate non-judgemental care at every stage of their life and is passionate in uplifting women’s overall health. She is known for her gentle, calm and professional approach to holistic patient care which includes tending to women’s social, emotional and cultural needs.
Outside of work
Outside of her practice, Dr Kavita holds family close to her heart and credits her husband and children as her biggest source of inspiration. She loves spending time with her immediate and extended family to rejuvenate, as well as time in the garden. Her favourite flower is the cherry blossom.
